The park is open from Monday to Sunday all year, from 9.30 am to 6 pm, but tourist access is divided into two seasons. 

The high season of Park Güell comes between March and October, and the opening hours are from 9.30 am to 7.30 pm.

Between winter and spring (November to February), the low season shortens the working day for guides, and the park closes early, at 5.30 pm.

Park Guell Opening Times on Public Holidays

The best part about Park Guell is that it is open year-round, including public holidays like Christmas Day (25 December) and New Year (1 January).

The general Park Guell Christmas hours are from 9:30 am to 5:30 pm during the winter and spring seasons.

So, you can easily book your Park Guell tickets in advance, plan your visit at any time of the year, and enjoy!

Kindly note that the entrance to the park has also been regulated to prevent overcrowding.

Park Guell Free Entry Time

Park Guell provides free entry to the local residents living in adjacent neighborhoods like El Coll, La Salut, Vallcarca-Penitents, El Carmel, Baix Guinardó, and Can Baró.

The park guarantees them free, unrestricted access all year round and has certain hours (mentioned below) fixed only for them to enter.

If you are not a local resident, there is another way to avail yourself of free access.

Gaudir Més” is a program started by the Barcelona City Council to help people in Barcelona learn more about the city’s culture and history. 

If you join this program, you can get discounts and special benefits, like free entry to Park Güell.

You can sign up for this program at the Citizen Help and Information Office (OAC). Once you’re a member, you can get a free ticket to visit Park Güell.

To get entry, you can just go to the program’s website and download your ticket, which is valid for the day you want to visit.

The following Park Guell hours are reserved exclusively for neighbors and Gaudir Més members. 

BON DIA BARCELONA: From 7 am to 9.30 am
BON VESPRE BARCELONA: From 6 pm to 10 pm

These hours are subject to change depending on the month of the year. Make sure to check the official site before visiting.

Kindly note that tourist visits are not allowed during these hours.

How Much Time Should You Spend at Park Güell?

On average, visitors spend around 1.5 hours exploring the major sections of Park Guell.

To visit the Monumental Zone of Gaudí, which includes the famous mosaic dragon and other iconic structures, it’s recommended to allot at least two hours.

If you’re interested in exploring the Casa Museo Gaudí, which is also located inside the park, you should plan to spend an additional hour or so.

Also, the duration of a visit can vary depending on your pace, the time of day you visit and the crowds.

If you want to avoid crowds at Park Guell and enjoy a peaceful visit, you can learn about the best time to visit the park.

You can also book a guided tour of the Park Guell to learn about its history and architecture, usually lasting 60 to 90 minutes.

Also, after the guided tour, you can stay in the park for as long as you like.

It’s a good idea to check for any special events or maintenance closures that might affect your visit and plan accordingly.

Park Guell at Night

Visiting Park Guell at night offers a serene and magical atmosphere.

However, it’s important to note that while entry at night is free of charge, the UNESCO World Heritage Site is not highly illuminated.

So, you can focus more on enjoying the town’s view than Gaudi’s works.

The park has few lights, and the large tropical plantations and reinforced gates create a special atmosphere, but Gaudi’s works are not as prominently visible during the nighttime visit.

If you want to see Gaudi’s work illuminated at night, you can visit the Sagrada Familia or Casa Mila. Both sites are lit up at night, and you can even enjoy a night show at Casa Mila.
